Det er gledelig å finne flere nordiske forfattere på årets liste. Av de 13 bøkene som er med på årets langliste har jeg lest èn ( Roy Jacobsen) og flere av dem er allerede oversatt til norsk. Dette gjelder bøkene til Jòn Kalman Stefànsson, Stefan Hertmans og Amos Oz. Danske Dorthe Nors sin bok kommer på norsk i april.

Jeg har ingen ambisjoner om å få lest alle på listen den neste måneden men jeg har plukket meg ut et par titler som jeg kunne tenke meg å lese.

 

Judas av Amos Oz – Vi befinner oss i Jerusalem i 1959. Av økonomiske grunner må den unge bibelforskeren Shmuel Ash fortvilet forlate universitetet og ta seg jobb som samtalepartner hos en eldre, intellektuell herre ved navn Gershom Wald. I hans tilbaketrukne hus bor også den mystiske Atalia Abarbanel, en kvinne i førtiårene som Shmuel raskt nærer en attraksjon mot.

 

Fever dream av Samanta Schwebling– A young woman named Amanda lies dying in a rural hospital clinic. A boy named David sits beside her. She’s not his mother. He’s not her child. The two seem anxious and, at David’s ever more insistent prompting, Amanda recounts a series of events from the apparently recent past. As David pushes her to recall whatever trauma has landed her in her terminal state, he unwittingly opens a chest of horrors, and suddenly the terrifying nature of their reality is brought into shocking focus.

Swallowing Mercury av Wioletta Greg – Swallowing Mercury is about the ordinary passing of years filled with extraordinary days. In vivid prose filled with texture, colour and sound, it describes the adult world encroaching on the child’s. From childhood to adolescence, Wiola dances to the strange music of her own imagination.

Set in rural south Poland in the 1980s, this novella follows a young girl’s passage to adulthood in her village, where folklore lives alongside religious belief and peculiar personal metamorphoses are the norm.

The Explosion Chronicles av Yan Lianke-With the Yi River on one side and the Balou Mountains on the other, the village of Explosion was founded a thousand years ago by refugees fleeing a volcanic eruption. But in the post-Mao era, the name takes on a new significance as the rural community grows explosively from a small village to a town to a city to a vast megalopolis. Behind this rapid expansion are three rival clans linked together by a web of ambition, madness and greed. I tillegg skal jeg få med meg den danske boken når denne foreligger på norsk  rundt den 20 april og Black Moses av Alain Mabanckou som ikke er tilgjengelig før 20 april men jeg håper at den kommer litt før på grunn av nominasjonen.

Det kan godt være at jeg får lest de andre som er oversatt til norsk, jeg får rett og slett se hvor langt jeg kommer.
